We have thousands of things on our mind at any given day, but the most consistent thought that always tops the chart is “losing weight”. Advocating weight loss, the healthy way comes to me out of my own lifestyle and summer season has been very beneficial to me over the years. I have read so many articles about successful weight loss and the most common mantra is to focus on your lifestyle and habits. In order to lose weight, one must burn enough calories than one consumes. According to studies out of the University of Massachusetts medical school and the University of Georgia, our average calorie intake decreases about 200 calories per day in the summer as compared to fall and winters.
Routine exercising and making few regime changes can supplement a healthy weight loss in the summers.
Here are few tips to make it easy for you.
Drink plenty of water
It is imperative that we drink water according to our body needs; making sure a minimum consumption of 2 – 6 litres. Keeping the body hydrated is going to keep you energized during the hot day. This will also help out with your skin care routine and boosting your metabolism. Drinking water half hour before meals is very effective for weight loss.
Take a 6 week break with alcohol
A shot of whiskey is approximately 80 calories and a banana are 105 + consuming this fruit will supplement you with calcium, magnesium & oxytocin; choose wisely! Alcohol is very similar to sugar chemically, it can set off insulin resistance and indirectly promote weight gain. Trying this method is only beneficial.
Become a portion police
Watch what you eat, and it is equally important to watch how much you eat! Portioning your meal is the easiest way to control your intake and implement a balanced diet. Your carbs and sugar should be the point of control and you should increase your intake of fibers and proteins. Try and swap fast release, refined carbs to slow – burning unrefined ones.
Get friendly to soups
Swapping a meal to a soup will benefit you in so many ways. With this method you can lower your calorie intake to up to 20%. This will also give you a window of opportunity to say ciao to a lot of junkie choices. Always opt for healthy options when your dining at restaurants.
Eat your desserts right
Desserts with a ratio of equal amounts of sugars and fat will satisfy your cravings but not your fitness needs. A sweet tooth can always be quenched with multiple options like good quality chocolates high in cocoa percentage, gluten free desserts, frozen yoghurt, jaggery/honey-based desserts etc.
Be wise about the liquid intake
Coffee orders can be tweaked to avoid high fat dairy, while consuming juices stick to fresh ones – mostly in the day. Select stevia over sugar free as a sweetener. If you are craving pineapple juice, then try and swap it by eating a pineapple instead so on for other fruits.
Exercise regularly
Exercising daily is beneficial to your mind, body & soul. It works wonders for your hormones, weight loss needs and gives you the focus and insight to implement a good régime. A balanced diet and healthy lifestyle should be the goal and weight loss can become an aftermath of your lifestyle. 6 weeks of changing your habits will form your new habits and can be a motivating start.
Initially to change anything in my life was a task but over the years it has become a routine choice for me and it is always “now” when you can start.
